We are non-hierarchical, meaning that responsibilities are shared horizontally. Opportunities to take on leadership roles to direct the organization in all sects are continuously created.
We share responsibilities in communication, planning, and action, so that no one constituency feels over-burdened, dominated, or excluded. Nobody owns this group; everybody owns this group.
Meetings are run by a facilitator and members take turns volunteering in this role. The facilitator will compile the agenda beforehand and manage discussion in the meeting to keep the agenda moving.
We take time to make sure everyone is informed before making decisions, and to communicate the results of those decisions to others who were not present.
We make decisions with an appreciation for consensus. Consensus means that everyone comes to agreement before any decision can be made. If there are objections or fierce disagreements, we attempt to create alternate proposals until consensus is reached.
When individuals in the group experience housing injustice, we practice mutual assistance to make sure their right to housing is
secured.
